I am a proponent for repealing the Marijuana Prohibition that has made hemp and marijuana illegal in the U.S. It has done nothing but serve to destroy the environment as well as destroy families by imprisoning people for offenses that should not be criminal.
The only people benefiting from the Drug War and Marijuana & Hemp Prohibition are corporations and the drug cartels.

Here are some things for you to check out: Much of the medical marijuana discussion has focused on the safety of marijuana compared to the safety of FDA-approved drugs. On June 24, 2005 ProCon.org sent a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to find the number of deaths caused by marijuana compared to the number of deaths caused by 17 FDA-approved drugs.

Over 100 physicians who have been quoted or referenced on the site, or are otherwise relevant to the medical marijuana debate. The list shows whether each doctor is Pro (P), Neutral (N), or Con (C) to our core question: "Should marijuana be a medical option?" Each name links to that physician's biography and includes his/her statement about medical marijuana as well as his/her job title, work experience, education, contact information, and more.
All individuals on this site with an MD have been assigned a theoretical credibility ranking of 4 stars, designating them as Key Experts in the medical marijuana debate, because with their training and clinical work, physicians should, in theory, have the best knowledge of marijuana's medical value and risks.
Our full list of site sources contains biographies of other credible individual sources who do not have MDs, as well as organizations. Medical Marijuana ProCon.org also recognizes the importance of well-controlled studies, which can be viewed on our peer-reviewed medical studies page.

American Psychiatric Association Assembly Unanimously Backs Medical Marijuana
A major move by one of the nation's top medical groups, they are backing medical marijuana and they want the federal government to leave doctors alone.
(WASHINGTON, D.C. ) - In a unanimous vote, the Assembly of the American Psychiatric Association has approved a strongly worded statement supporting legal protection for patients using medical marijuana with their doctor's recommendation.

US National Commission on Marihuana and Drug Abuse
"Society should seek to discourage use, while concentrating its attention on the prevention and treatment of heavy and very heavy use. The Commission feels that the criminalization of possession of marihuana for personal use is socially self-defeating as a means of achieving this objective. We have attempted to balance individual freedom on one hand and the obligation of the state to consider the wider social good on the other.
We believe our recommended scheme will permit society to exercise its control and influence in ways most useful and efficient, meanwhile reserving to the individual American his sense of privacy, his sense of individuality, and, within the context of all interacting and interdependent society, his options to select his own life style, values, goals and opportunities.
The Commission sincerely hopes that the tone of cautious restraint sounded in this Report will be perpetuated in the debate which will follow it.
For those who feel we have not proceeded far enough, we are reminded of Thomas Jefferson's advice to George Washington that 'Delay is preferable to error.'
For those who argue we have gone too far, we note Roscoe Pound's statement, 'The law must be stable, but it must not stand still.'
